User Interface Design / Identity Design

Zakta, pronounce like exactly, is a Web 2.0 start up based on Facebook. It is a research tool that combines the social aspects of Facebook, the collaborative ranking power of Digg, and the information richness of Wikipedia. Overall it allows users to create, rank, and comment on any area of expertise they're interested in. Facebook recently opened its site by publishing an API that lets others build applications as Facebook Add-ons. Zakta is such an Add-on.

The Zakta founders asked Transmisssions to help shape many aspects of the applications design. We designed the corporate identity, and much of the user interactions and user interface of the application. This work involved designing and producing concepts of logos, icons, complex user interactions and knoweldge-based tasks, and web pages. The deliverables inlcuded graphics, html, and CSS which were integrated in the application by the Zakta back-end programming team.

The resulting brand identity incorporates a commonly known bubble shape to represent the social and collaborative aspects, and tight letter spacing and resulting accented dot to represent the wealth of information and finding the best answers. The resulting web site is a Web 2.0 application, both from the interface technology point of view and from the social networking aspects, that enables users to perform an array of complex knowledge-based tasks.
